The early history of Trinity Lutheran Chapel at Cable dates back to 1914. The Cable Lutherans approached one of the Radloff brothers about asking Rev. Wegner of Phipps Lutheran Church to come and hold services in Cable.
The first Lutheran service in Cable was held at the Cable Congregation Church. Later services were held in homes of members and in the Leonard School. As the congregation grew, services were held in the Congregational Church and then in the library in Cable
In 1939, the first Lutheran Chapel was dedicated in Cable and in 1961, a new larger chapel was dedicated. These two buildings were made of local logs and designed with a Nordic architecture.
Due to severe deterioration of the structure of the building, it was decided in 1979 to rebuild and add on to the present building, adding much needed office, fellowship, worship, and education space.
Today, under God’s blessing, the congregation is able to worship our Lord in this remodeled structure, which has preserved the interior beauty of the original buildings with its stained windows.
Trinity Lutheran Chapel is a member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS is a collection of congregations founded by German immigrants in the 1850s, in order to train pastors and teachers, print materials and do missionary work. Today there are more than 6,000 congregations, including people from all ethnic groups.
In 1517, Martin Luther, a German monk, rediscovered three great truths which had been lost by the church of his day. He rediscovered the fact that people are saved by faith alone. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, and not by our works. Works are an important way of saying thanks to God, but they do not save us. Luther rediscovered that we are saved by grace alone. Grace is God’s undeserved love for us, and is not based on any merit on our part. Finally, Luther rediscovered the fact that the Bible alone is the only reliable source of what we believe and teach. Man’s word is subject to error. The Bible as the inherent word of God, is the only reliable source of truth.
Because the Bible says so, we believe man was created perfect and holy like God, but that man fell into sin when he disobeyed God’s command. Since that time, all people come into this world spiritually blind, dead and enemies of God. We believe that we cannot and will not do anything to stop the war between God and us. We believe that God sent His Son to keep His commands perfectly for us, and that He placed the sins of the whole world on Jesus, and that Jesus paid for all of our sins by his death on the cross. We believe in Jesus as our Savior because entered our hearts through His word and by His Spirit created faith in His Son.
We believe that when we die, our souls go to be with Christ in heaven, and that one day He will return and reunite our souls with our new glorified bodies. We believe until He comes, our purpose here on earth is to tell others about Jesus and what He has done to save us.
We invite you to come and worship with us.
